# Getting up and running on Ubuntu
While the experienced developer will most likely delve into the source code and compile it, this is not necessary. For just using signal-cli, only a few steps are necessary. I will document them following what I did on Ubuntu 14.04 (but this should also work with little or no modification for other platforms).
