Update signal-monitoring.sh 
Command Substitution like that $(cmd) solves a problem of inconsistent behavior when using back-ticks. Like:

```bash
$ echo '\$brm'
\$brm
$ echo `echo '\$brm'`
$brm
$ echo $(echo '\$brm')
\$brm
```
And it is POSIX so more portable (POSIX)[https://pubs.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/9699919799/utilities/V3_chap02.html#tag_18_06_03]
